A large mirror-polished heart sculpture set over a public fountain, fabricated in grade 316 stainless to withstand constant water contact and outdoor exposure.
Project overview
Positioned at the center of a civic fountain, the heart landmark was designed as a photo destination for visitors. The mirrored surface reflects the water, sky and surrounding plaza, while the form stays visually clean against the moving water behind it.
The challenge
Continuous water immersion and splash demanded a material that would not stain or corrode, and the large curved panels had to hold a flawless mirror reflection without visible weld seams breaking the form.
Our solution
Grade 316 stainless was used for the entire shell. The formed panels were welded, then the seams were hand-ground and progressively polished back to a full 8K mirror so they disappeared. The base was engineered to mount to the fountain structure above the waterline with stainless anchoring.
