A pair of mirror-polished stainless steel deer with integrated LED lighting, installed on a hotel rooftop terrace and engineered to remain outdoors year-round.
Project overview
The client asked for a signature centerpiece for a newly opened rooftop venue — something that read as refined by day and became a focal point after dark. We fabricated two life-sized deer forms from 316 stainless steel, hand-ground and polished to a mirror finish, with concealed warm-white LED uplighting built into the fabricated base.
The challenge
The rooftop location meant full weather exposure, salt air, and a load-bearing floor. The sculptures needed to be corrosion-resistant, stable in wind, and light enough for the structural load — while the lighting had to be fully weatherproof and serviceable.
Our solution
We used grade 316 stainless throughout for chloride resistance, formed the body from welded sheet with an internal steel armature, and anchored each piece to a discrete stainless base plate. The LED drivers and junction boxes were housed in IP67 enclosures within the plinth, with cable runs hidden through the mounting feet.
