A free-standing gold branch-tree sculpture for a hotel lobby atrium, fabricated from hundreds of individually welded stainless branches and finished in PVD rose gold.
Project overview
Designed to sit beneath the lobby atrium skylight, this sculptural tree brings a natural, organic silhouette into a fully interior space. Every branch and twig was cut, shaped and TIG-welded by hand before the entire structure received a PVD rose-gold coating for a consistent, durable color.
The challenge
A natural tree has no repeating parts, yet the finish had to be perfectly uniform across hundreds of welds. The piece also needed to break down for shipping and reassemble on site without visible joints.
Our solution
We built the sculpture in bolt-together sections using concealed flanges. All welding and grinding was completed and inspected before PVD coating, so the color went over a finished surface. On site the sections were joined inside the trunk, which then closed over with polished cover plates.
