Mirrored stainless steel column covers that wrap structural columns, turning plain structural elements into reflective architectural features.
Project overview
Structural columns are unavoidable in open-plan lobbies; these fabricated covers wrap them completely in mirror stainless, turning each column into a polished feature that visually expands the space through reflection.
The challenge
Column covers must fit around existing steel or concrete with tight tolerances, and the wrap-around joints had to be invisible in a mirror surface. Access to building services behind the columns also had to be preserved.
Our solution
We fabricated each cover as a precision-bent shell in manageable sections, with hairline cover strips over the closing joints that were polished to match. Where access was needed, a section was made removable using concealed magnetic or keyed fixings.
